Duke star Zion Williamson declares for 2019 NBA Draft

Duke Blue Devils freshman Zion Williamson announced his decision to declare for the 2019 NBA Draft on Monday.

"I don't think I can put it into words how special this year was", Williamson said, in addition to thanking his family, coach Mike Krzyzewski and the rest of Duke.

The projected No. 1 overall pick called his freshman year, "the best year of (his) life".

The Duke sensation finished with 24 points and 14 rebounds in the Blue Devils' loss and averaged 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists on 68% shooting over the season.

His teammates, RJ Barrett and Cam Reddish, both declared for the NBA Draft earlier this month.

Will Duke retire Zion Williamson's No. 1 and hang it in the rafters of Cameron Indoor Stadium?

Zion Williamson is widely considered to be the No. 1 overall selection in June's NBA Draft, regardless of which team wins the NBA Draft Lottery. There are some questions about what position he'll play in the National Basketball Association as he combines the size of a forward (6-foot-7) with the build of a centre (285 pounds), but he's one of the most explosive and powerful prospects we've ever seen. The New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns have the best shot, each with a 14% chance.
