Rian Johnson and GOT Creators Plotting the Future of Star Wars Movies

After a couple of multi-player Battlefront outings, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (out November 15 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC) shifts to a story-driven, single-player focus and introduces a new lightsaber-swinging hero into galactic lore during pretty much the worst period to be using the Force in public.

"As they finish Game of Thrones, they're going to segue into Star Wars". This is that, amplified by the fact that, while no one really thought Borderlands 3 would be battle royale, we had every reason to believe EA would pull its usual tricks with this game.

Despite the announced hiatus, we knew for a fact that there are at least two more Star Wars trilogies now in development, one by The Last Jedi director, Rian Johnson and the other by Game of Thrones showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

She continued, "There is so much change in this industry all the time. Everybody's trying to figure out what the right path is". According to Ingram, Fallen Order is a project that Respawn wanted to make and EA did not force it to the studio. Co-founder Vince Zampella, being a member of EA's executive team, would have sway in protecting the creative direction of any game Respawn creates. And then you look at Rogue One, the animated show Rebels, those are ensemble stories. Benioff and Weiss were also signed to develop new Star Wars films.

Hennig went over how the choice to cancel the title was made in Summer of 2017 with the team being informed in October of that same year. But since this franchise is all about its mysteries, creators are keeping a lot of the story close to the vest until people play the game - like where exactly did Cal get his lightsaber, anyway? "Of course they do, of course we do".

In a series of tweets, Jay Ingram, Community Engagement Specialist at Electronic Arts, revealed some new details about the upcoming Star Wars game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The industry's changing all the time, she said, "and I'm glad for Respawn's sake, because I'm excited about their game, and I've heard great things about it".

Star Wars had previously announced that Rian Johnson would be working on his own trilogy in the Star Wars universe while Benioff and Weiss would be working on their own Star Wars films. However, when it does return, it sounds like it'll come back stronger than ever.
