Nazem Kadri will have in-person hearing on Monday

They needed to answer in a big way on Saturday before the series shifted to Toronto, and Boston got its response, punishing the Leafs in a 4-1 win.

The retired National Hockey League winger and notorious on-ice instigator weighed in on Saturday night's incident involving Maple Leafs center Nazem Kadri and Bruins winger Jake DeBrusk.

Frederik Andersen made 37 saves in defeat.

We'll have to wait and see, and the same goes for Krug, and possibly other players who might have gotten roughed up in a very rough Game 2.

The incident occurred with 5:57 remaining in the Maple Leafs' 4-1 loss.

There would be no repeat on this night.

The atmosphere in TD Garden was what we expected as well, especially after it was tepid 48 hours earlier. If the Bruins carry this effort over to Game 3, the Maple Leafs are going to be in tough, but it feels like things could go either way ... and likely back and forth. Kadri looked to be injured but no penalty was called on DeBrusk.

Boston then went ahead on another Toronto defensive miscue at 16:04 when Muzzin whiffed on the puck with his glove in the neutral zone.

DeBrusk delivered a hard hit on Toronto's Patrick Marleau, and was standing near the boards when Kadri hit him high with his stick.

But the Flames responded when Rasmus Andersson scored his first career playoff goal and Sean Monahan scored late in the third period, and the game looked like it was over.

As far as the Leafs are no doubt concerned, whatever works. Kadri took exception to DeBrusk's hit on Marleau and received a game misconduct for his retaliation. The Maple Leafs forward stayed down on the ice for several moments afterwards, but ultimately skated off on his own and returned for the start of the third period.

"Obviously, the league decides on all this kind of stuff", Leafs coach Mike Babcock said.

Toronto got a power play five minutes into the third, but could do nothing until Kadri broke Rask's shutout bid on a deflection at 10:44.

Kadri also missed time against Boston in the playoffs previous year for a hit against Tommy Wingels. But Saturday's games included three overtime winners in Washington, Nashville and Calgary, and a reversal of fortunes in Boston.

Notes: DeBrusk played despite missing Friday's practice.

Where Cassidy was able to add a physical veteran in Backes for Game 2 (and delete Marcus Johansson), Babcock doesn't have a similar possibility at his disposal.
