Why the Death Star Appears in 'STAR WARS: The Rise of Skywalker'

Disney showed fans attending the Star Wars Celebration convention in Chicago the first footage from the movie, which will be released in theatres in December and will conclude the story that began in 1977. The movie will mark the end of an era as it will be the final chapter of a saga.

Also returning are the young cast members introduced in 2015's "The Force Awakens" and 2017's "The Last Jedi", including John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, and Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd. That's not to say that it won't have some sort of live component, however. They said she will act as a mentor to Cal, but don't expect the traditional Padawan/Jedi Master relationship we've seen before.

But, predictably, there are still more questions than answers when it comes to "The Rise of Skywalker", especially what will come after.

To tie in with the big reveal that Emperor Palpatine is returning to the saga, a deluxe Black Series Emperor with chair will be an Amazon exclusive.

If you haven't checked it out already or simply want to relive it again, you can view the Star Wars: Episode IX teaser below! Only Ackie's role has been confirmed thus far: She plays a character named Jannah. "All I can really say is the original group are going on this epic, epic adventure together, and I'm so excited about where Jana crosses paths with them".

"This movie is about this new generation, what they've inherited, the light and the dark, and are they ready?" he said. Cal, a Padawan in training, goes into hiding and ends up working with a clan of scrappers, who salvage valuable materials from decommissioned capital ships.

A new droid, D-O, pronounced "Dio", rolled onto the stage, joining BB-8 and R2-D2. Assisting the Second Sister are the terrifying Purge Troopers, special Imperial forces trained to seek out Jedi and aid the Inquisitors in their dastardly work. Yes, The Rise of Skywalker is nearly upon us, so once Avengers: Endgame has come and gone, and the world fawns over Jon Favreau's Lion King remake, we fully expect Star Wars mania to grip the fanbase once more. Bearing in mind that I'm a part of it, but there were certain changes to the script while we're filming and I'm not in a lot of the scenes that Rey has with Kylo Ren.
