Lescott believes no Liverpool player would get into City’s team

Liverpool are now two points ahead of Pep Guardiola's men on the table, although the champions have a game in hand.

"We took so much stick off Liverpool in the years leading up to '93 before we won that first title after 26 years", Pallister told Premier League Productions.

Before the season started our table predictor correctly stated Manchester City would have 74 points after 30 matches, but the key difference is that Liverpool are 9 points better off than we predicted, making this potentially the tightest Premier League title run in for years!

Former Manchester City and Everton defender Joleon Lescott has claimed that not one of the Liverpool players could get into City's starting 11, in an interview with Sporting Bet.

Klopp would certainly admit to the fact that Liverpool haven't been in great form over the last couple of months, but during that tough recent period it's been Mane that has helped Liverpool maintain a position in the top-two of the Premier League.

"That rivalry, it's always going to beat the Man City derby".

Pallister though says he has been impressed with Liverpool for keeping up with Pep Guardiola's side throughout the campaign.

But who has the better squad: Liverpool or City?

As regards to the title race, the former Blue said that it was "Liverpool's to lose" earlier in the season, but "it's now in City's hands and they won't let it slip".

History shows that teams going for so many trophies at the back end of the season tend to stumble at some point and even though Liverpool may need to win their remaining seven Premier League matches to have a chance of being champions, that finishing line is drawing ever closer now.

Liverpool FC will take on FC Porto in the quarter-finals of the Champions League next month as they bid to try and reach the last four for the second season running.
