Williams: 'Superman' Zion incredible in Duke win

What was once UNC's Dean Smith vs Duke's Vic Bubas and later Mike Krzyzewski has been replaced by Roy Williams vs Krzyzewski. "It was a matter of a game where we didn't make our shots". Instead, it was his decision to pass up a play designed for him and dish to Williamson for the game's final points that proved decisive. A 70-foot desperation heave by Duke's Danny Ferry at the buzzer bounded off the rim, leaving Smith to say, "An old man would have had a heart attack" had the shot dropped at the Atlanta Omni.

Riding the Top 5 wave for most of the season, UVA discovered it is vulnerable, which could be a good thing heading into the tournament that fans remember.

ESPN now has N.C. State as its third-to-last team in the field.

After the win, Williamson once again addressed the notion that he shouldn't have returned to the Blue Devils with the National Basketball Association on the horizon.

Duke (27-5) is playing for its 12th ACC Tournament title since 1999, while Florida State (27-6) seeks its second title in its third-ever finals appearance (with a title in 2012). Tre Jones was the only other Blue Devil with double-digit points, and he had 11.

R.J. Barrett came down with a rebound off a missed UNC three at the other end and was fouled, but he missed both free throws with 13 seconds left to give the Tar Heels a chance to hit a game victor. In the tournament, the Tar Heels got an MVP effort from Dudley Bradley to cut down the nets.

The play came unraveled this time, as No. 3-seed and No. 4-ranked Duke held on for a 74-73 victory to advance to Saturday's championship game against Florida State.

If one of two 3-point attempts in the final minute fell, UNC probably would have won. The Blue Devils weren't much better from long-range, hitting just 25 percent of their attempts.

"That is just my competitive spirit", Williamson said of the tip-in. Both teams made it to the Final Four in Indianapolis. That helped the Tar Heels keep pace with Duke early, leading to a deadlocked 44-44 scoreboard at halftime.

"I mean it was tough watching the first two (Duke-UNC) games, wishing I could go to war with them", said Williamson, who was hurt in the opening minute of the first meeting February 20.

Same floor, same teams, different result.

2 team in the country, won both games against the No. 3 Blue Devils earlier this season, however Duke was without Williamson for almost all of those bouts. The Devils edged the Seminoles 80-78 on January 12 on a Cam Reddish 3-pointer with 0.8 seconds left. It's a given Duke will be ready for this game. The Blue Devils, beating the Tar Heels three times in the season, also opened NCAA tournament play in Chapel Hill, which rankled Smith and the Heels.
