IPhone ‘shields man from bow and arrow attack’ in Nimbin, NSW

The 43-year-old was left with a small cut on his chin following the weird incident, but pictures released by the police show it could have been much. much worse.

He caught sight of a neighbour aiming a bow and arrow at him. I shouldn't have done what I did.

The incident happened in the town of Nimbin, some 110 miles south of Brisbane, earlier this week.

A man had a lucky escape when he was shot with an arrow that went right through the mobile phone he was using to photograph his alleged attacker.

The 43-year-old lifted up his phone to take a photo, which prompted the attacker to engage the bow and fire the arrow.

Here's the story from the New South Wales police, complete with lots of "allegedlys".

That's not something you see every day, even here in Australia, so police say he pulled out his phone to snap a photo of the archer when the armed man raised his bow and fired. NSW Police confirmed in a statement that the 43-year-old man who came under attack managed to emerge with only a small laceration on his chin, thanks to his iPhone acting like an unlikely shield.

The 39-year-old man was charged with assault and property damage offences, and will face a court next month.
