Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill involved in police investigation in Overland Park

Hill has not been arrested or charged in Johnson County as of Friday afternoon, but the case has been referred to the district attorney's office.

In a statement to the Star, the Chiefs stated, "The club is aware of the investigation involving Tyreek Hill".

KCTV in Kansas City, Missouri, was among the outlets reporting on a battery investigation involving a child stemming from a call to Hill's home in Overland Park, Kansas, on Thursday. The juvenile is believed to be the couple's son.

Back in December 2014, Hill allegedly punched and choked his now-fiancee, Crystal Espinal, while she was pregnant with their son.

As part of his plea agreement for the domestic abuse charge, Hill attended a 52-week batterer intervention course and was supervised for two years. He received three years of probation and was dismissed from the Oklahoma State football team.

The Chiefs drafted Hill in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He pleaded guilty to domestic assault and battery in 2015, but the conviction was later dismissed and ordered expunged from his record after the completion of court-mandated probation.

"Tyreek has done a nice job staying on top of himself with that", Chiefs coach Andy Reid said late last month. "We would never put anybody in this community in harm's way". We have things set up for him if there are issues, but he's been phenomenal.

"Those guys, those fans, they have every right to be mad at me", Hill said, via ESPN.

It appeared to be working, too.

The two-time All-Pro had also positioned himself for a massive payday.

The 25-year-old receiver finished the 2018 season with 87 receptions for 1,479 yards and 12 touchdowns as the Chiefs went 12-4 on the season before falling to the Patriots in the AFC Championship game.
