Still hanging in the balance is the fate of the privileged scholars, at least some of whom may not have known about their parents' alleged acts.

No students have been charged in connection with the scam at the time of this writing.

Andrew Lelling, the US attorney in Boston, stated at a news conference that "for every student admitted through fraud, an honest, genuinely talented student was rejected", Reuters reported.

As if that wasn't bad enough, she is reportedly still waiting to find out if she will be kicked out of college over the scandal.

"This case is about the widening corruption of elite college admissions through the steady application of wealth combined with fraud", Lelling said. I bought this in hopes it would help me get into college.

It was all orchestrated by William Rick Singer, CEO of a college admissions prep company called The Key.

She added: "I'm really disappointed in myself".

There were dual avenues for carrying out the scheme, Lelling explained. Singer bribed those test administrators, prosecutors said. He took in an estimated $25 million in bribes from parents, allegedly helped them create glowing athletic and academic profiles for their children, in addition to staging and/or creating photos of their children engaged in sports activities with the use of Photoshop.

Rich parents are alleged to have paid money in order to falsify their children's academic grades or school sporting achievements so that they could get into competitive universities. Singer pleaded guilty to several charges. Both are accused of paying $500,000 in bribes to get their daughters into USC.

In the largest known college admissions scandal in USA history, federal prosecutors on Tuesday said a California company made about $25 million by charging parents to secure spots for their children at elite schools, including Georgetown, Stanford and Yale, by cheating the admissions process.

Wake Forest University said it's put head volleyball coach Bill Ferguson on leave.

The original suit was filed on behalf of two Stanford University students who claimed they were harmed because they were denied a fair opportunity for admission to schools to which they applied.
