Manchester United 'lose out to Real Madrid for Eder Militao'

He will now become Madrid's first summer signing for Zinedine Zidane, after the Spanish club agreed to pay his €50m buyout clause.

Manchester United lose out to Real Madrid in the race to sign Porto centre-back Eder Militao, according to a report.

A statement released by Madrid on their official website read: "Eder Gabriel Militao is officially a new Real Madrid player, signing until 2025".

On Thursday they announced the signing of 21-year-old Militao, who will join from Porto in a €50million (£43m) deal in the summer.

The Brazil worldwide has played 34 times for UEFA Champions League quarter-finalists this season, scoring three goals and registering two assists across all competitions.

Militao has played virtually every game for Porto so far in 2018/19 after making his Liga Primeira debut while still only 20 back in September. His speed, positioning and anticipation are his greatest assets, while he is also strong in the air.

He is also a full Brazil global and made his debut against El Salvador in September 2018.

The Brazilian only joined Porto from Sao Paulo last summer for €4 million.

He has enjoyed considerable success in that role before and will be hoping to see Militao help to deliver more once welcomed into the Real fold.
