Trump blasts ‘fake news’ over Melania body double theory

In a tweet on Wednesday, Trump suggested the "Fake News" tampered with photos of Melania Trump and "propelled conspiracy theories" that she has a body double.

US first lady Melania Trump greets residents March 8, 2019 in Opelika, Alabama, during a tour with US President Donald Trump of tornado-damaged areas in the southern US state.

In the tweet, the president references his trip to Alabama over the weekend-when the conspiracy theory was reignited. Most of the conspiracy theory lives on social media where people compare screenshots of live images from public events to other photos.

On Tuesday's episode of "The View", co-host Joy Behar raised the issue of a Melania body double. "One woman lost ten people in her family because I saw all the people who were affected". "The tornadoes were disgusting, but she wanted to go, and I said, 'Good, let's go, '" Trump said, referring to Mrs. Trump.

"This is an excuse to be able to mock her, to say she looks short, her face is a different shape - classic mean-girl environment", Bruce said, adding that the first lady probably looked different because she was "sad", given the setting. Melania Trump's spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, blasted the segment in a post on Twitter on Monday morning. "If our first lady, if I were a Democrat instead of a Republican, she'd be Jackie O times twenty".
