Texas Donut Shop Filled With Customers After Sad Tweet Goes Viral

Texas Donut Shop Filled With Customers After Sad Tweet Goes Viral

It didn't take much for this tweet to go viral.

Satharith says he sold out of doughnuts the very next day.

Saturday afternoon, Billy By tweeted photos of his dad's empty donut shop, Billy's Donuts, writing, "My dad is sad cause no one is coming to his new donut shop [crying face emoji]". Yet, despite the grand-opening sign outside the store, few customers were stopping by.

All it took was a single tweet of a "sad" father stationed behind the counter of a newly opened but desolate mom-and-pop doughnut shop to bring the community out and get sales rolling.

Billy By helped spread the word about his dad's donut shop - and now they're consistently selling out donuts. On Sunday morning, the store was suddenly a hotspot in Missouri City, and by noon, the entire lineup of donuts and kolaches had sold out. The restaurant holds a five-star Yelp rating, with customers praising the donuts, the kolaches, and the warmth of the owners. Since posting it over the weekend, the tweet has been retweeted over 250,000 times.

The incredible moment even made the Twitter team notice the family, as the team itself went for a visit to Billy's Donuts. "You are all awesome", By tweeted, along with a photo of his no-longer-sad father.

People in the area responded to the tweet promising that they would come down to the shop, and they did just that. The post also stated the donut shop's Instagram page, all in this son's effort to encourage possible customers to drop by the shop.
