Aaron Finch Praises Australia After "Unbelievable" Series Win Against India

Aaron Finch Praises Australia After

It is the first ODI series win for Australia since January 2017 and the fourth on Indian soil, the last coming in 2009.

The opener Khawaja strengthened his claim for a place in the World Cup squad with an elegant 100 to steer Australia to 272 for 9, although the tourists had looked on course to exceed 300 at one stage.

Australia are just the fifth team in history to achieve the feat.

"Whoever gets picked in the end, India's middle order will be its Achilles heel in the WC 2019".

Khawaja's 76-run stand with captain Aaron Finch was ended when Finch was bowled by all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for 27.

His huge tally was enough to earn him both the man of the match and man of the series awards. "It's never easy to beat India at home so very excited".

The left-right batting pair of Khawaja and Handscomb then stood firm to lay the foundation of their team´s total.

The assuring presence of skipper Virat Kohli (20) did not last long as he too departed early, caught behind while attempting a cut off Marcus Stoinis.

The late belligerence of Kedar Jadhav, who made 44, and Kumar (46) injected some excitement but India could not avoid defeat in their final ODI series before this year's World Cup in England and Wales.

Swashbuckling Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma on Wednesday added another feather to his already illustrious cap, equalling former cricketer Sourav Ganguly's record of being the third fastest cricketer to reach 8000 runs in ODI cricket.

Allan Border Medallist Cummins continued to lead the bowling attack with 14 wickets at an average of 15 with Adam Zampa also contributing 11 wickets.

"We always knew that the plans and the style that we wanted to play are all there, can win us the World Cup, win us big series against great teams". "I wouldn't want to be a selector, it's going to be a tough job whittling the team down to 15 and there are obviously a few to come back as well".

However, chasing a challenging target on a tricky Feroz Shah Kotla wicket, India were strangled in the middle overs by the Australian spinners.

Australia has another chance to impress ahead of the World Cup with another five-match series against Pakistan in the UAE starting on Friday March 22.
