Browns to sign Breshad Perriman to one-year contract

Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson is expected to sign a three-year contract with the Browns when free agency begins, ESPN reports Tuesday morning. Prior to that Richardson spent a season with the Seattle Seahawks and four with the New York Jets, who drafted him 13 overall in 2013.

The Browns beefed up their defensive line before National Football League free agency opened.

Vernon, who didn't live up to expectations the past few seasons, gives Cleveland another threat off the edge, and Larry Ogunjobi emerged last season as a dependable run stopper.

Given a chance by the Browns, Perriman took advantage, playing in the final 10 games - starting twice in three-wide-receiver sets.

The former first-rounder played in every game for the Vikings in 2018, making 49 combined tackles and recording 4.5 sacks.

In six seasons, Richardson has 23 ½ sacks and 195 tackles in 87 games.

Richardson was the AP's Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2013.
