The Prodigy frontman Keith Flint's cause of death confirmed by coroner

An inquest has heard The Prodigy frontman Keith Flint died as the result of hanging, the Press Association reports.

The lead singer of the United Kingdom band, Keith Flint, was found dead in his Essex house on 4 March, with bandmates revealing that he had taken his own life.

Chaffe told the two-minute hearing in Chelmsford on Monday that Flint's provisional medical cause of death is hanging. She also noted that Flint's case will remain under investigation while toxicology reports are compiled.

The inquest was adjourned by Senior Coroner, Caroline Beasley-Murray until a full hearing on July 23.

Flint, who was known for his wild dancing and for his iconic double-mohawk died on March 4 at the age of 49.

Flint, born in Redbridge, London, rose to fame in the Brit Award-winning electronic band in the 1990s.

They continued: "We attended and, sadly, a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene".

His bandmate Liam Howlett later confirmed that Flint had taken his own life.

'I'm shell shocked, f***** angry, confused and heart broken. r.i.p brother'.

The BBC reports that United Kingdom coroners opened an inquest into Flint's death.

The Prodigy released their latest album No Tourists in November, their seventh consecutive number one record.

Since the news of Keith's death rocked the music world, with tributes pouring in from stars and fans, Liam has thanked people for their support.
