Captain Marvel Has Massive Opening

Internationally, Captain Marvel has grossed an estimated $302 million - meaning it could rake in an estimated total of $455m globally. It brings to life so many aspects of the Marvel Universe while imbuing them with a modern makeover, which grants the film a whole other (and potentially unexpected) kind of salience.

Talking about its collection, Captain Marvel not only received a massive response from Indian audiences but also got one of the biggest openings on day 1. Decked out in a custom Juicy Couture Captain Marvel jumpsuit mirroring her costume on the film, Larson sipped on a cup with her face on her on it as she went in to surprise the audience.

In the USA the film garnered an estimated $153 million during its debut.

Have you seen Captain Marvel in theaters yet? Perhaps the wisest course of action is to see the film and judge its merits for yourself. The cast includes Samuel L Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Annette Bening, Clark Gregg and Jude Law.

Captain Marvel has arguably been one of the most analyzed blockbusters in recent years, in terms of box office returns.

The 90s-set origin story of pilot Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and her transformation into an all-powerful super-being, has landed solidly with critics too. It's the first female-led superhero movie from Marvel, the master of big-screen comic-book films.

Larson noted last month how movies that are landmarks for representation, like "Captain Marvel", often come with the weight of huge expectations, with a lot riding on their successes or failures.

I met Brie Larson working the night shift at my local AMC from r/marvelstudios A moment that gaining momentum on social media, via Reddit, user sadokistpotato shared a picture with the actor giving him popcorn. It will be the biggest opening title since "Incredibles 2" launched with $182 million in June and should post the best start for a standalone superhero film since Marvel's "Black Panther" launched with $202 million in 2018.
