Ravens Trade QB Joe Flacco To Denver Broncos, Industry Sources Say

The demand at the position is one reason Denver pounced on Flacco.

According to ESPN, which cited league sources, the Ravens have an agreement in principle to trade their franchise quarterback to the Broncos.

The trade can not be processed until the new NFL league year begins on March 13, but the teams have reportedly agreed on the terms of the deal, Schefter says.

The teams are prohibited from commenting on the deal or the terms.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the Broncos will send back a mid-round pick for Flacco.

That means Baltimore will have an estimated $31.999 million in available cap space for 2019 given current salary cap projection of $190 million. He is due $18 million in 2019, with just $7 million guaranteed. Rookie first-round pick Lamar Jackson took over for Flacco, didn't relinquish the starting role and won six of the next seven games as he led the Ravens to the AFC North title. Flacco's quarterback rating hasn't risen above 90 since the 2014 season. Former Broncos executive Gary Kubiak also was a noted Flacco fan, and his opinions were a strong starting point to selling Denver on the deal. He was drafted 18th overall by the Ravens in 2008 and held on to the starter's role until he was sidelined by injury in Week 9 of last season.
