Mbappe stars as PSG hand Solskjaer's Man Utd a reality check

Manchester United suffered their first loss under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as PSG put in a clinical second-half performance to come out 2-0 victors in the first leg of their round of 16 tie in the UEFA Champions League.

Patrice Evra has posted a message to PSG fans on social media following a backlash against his video that called for Manchester United to "give everything" in their Champions League clash with the Ligue 1 winners.

Asked if the Champions League is PSG's main target this season, veteran full-back Alves told reporters: "No, we invest because we have money, but it is not primordial".

Goals from Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappe saw the French champions leave Manchester with an important win.

PSG have struggled on the road in the Champions League against elite opposition but showed little sign of nerves as they stroked the ball around confidently.

I thought that after they lost at home to Juventus in October and, although they now have a different manager, as a team they are still in exactly the same place, which is well behind the leading European sides. "We are working hard for it". However, both Lingard and Martial were forced to be withdrawn by the start of the second half due to injury, and United rarely threatened in the second half.

"Just shocking, makes you think whether he's really up for these sort of games".

"So, we have the opportunity to reach the next round, but we have to repeat what we've done today, because this team [Man Utd] have history in this competition as we haven't". So that's maybe why Pogba, as we have seen recently, has performed well'.

Pogba has been the best player in the Premier League since Solskjaer took charge, and he has played a key role in setting up so many of United's goals as well as scoring some himself. "We are very proud of our team, our coach and our supporters - it was a magical evening. It's a magical evening, it's flawless", he said.

Mourinho famously ostracised Pogba, feeling he lacked the tactical discipline he demands from every player, and Wenger says the midfielder is enjoying having those restraints lifted.

For starters, Solskjaer was managing Cardiff at the time, left and went back to Molde for a second spell before being "loaned" to his beloved United as interim boss until the end of the season. But in terms of morale, we were at the top.
