BBC cameraman assaulted as Trump whips crowd 'into a frenzy' in Texas

A supporter of US President Donald Trump has attacked a BBC cameraman at a campaign rally in El Paso, Texas.

According to a BBC report, the man had been attacking various news crews, but Skeans got the worst of it, the blow so blindsiding him that the camera dipped to the floor and swung around crazily until the man was restrained.

The BBC reported that President Trump checked the cameraman and media were well with a thumbs up, and continued his speech after Mr Skeans returned the gesture.

A video has revealed the shocking moment a BBC cameraman, Ron Skeans, was attacked at a Donald Trump rally in Texas.

At the rally, tied to Trump's efforts to secure funding for a border wall, the president again attacked the media, as he has done on many occasions since launching his presidential campaign. "The man was removed by security and Ron is fine".

Video was shared of Trump addressing the packed rally filmed by the BBC.

He has often branded reporting he doesn't like as "fake news" and said that journalists are enemies of the people. Fortunately our cameraman is fine, he is made of stern stuff, ' O'Donoghue told the Today programme.

"This is a constant feature of these rallies - a goading of the crowds against the media", O'Donoghue told the BBC.

The president went to El Paso, on the U.S. border with Mexico, to campaign for a border wall, a divisive issue which caused the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.

'I have been spat at before, they hurl abuse at American colleagues in particular'.

CNN Chief White House Correspondent Jim Acosta previous year posted a video on Twitter that showed a hostile crowd at a Trump rally in Tampa, Florida.

"The crowd had been whipped up into a frenzy against the media by Trump and other speakers all night".

Democrats are scrambling to find a candidate to unseat the Republican - with Trump saying he plans on seeing out his presidency until 2025.
