Obama's Ambassador to Israel Slams Rep. Omar

"It's all about the Benjamins baby", Omar tweeted in response to Greenwald, suggesting lawmakers receive financial contributions in exchange for supporting the Middle East's only democracy.

Ilhan Omar's (D-Minn.) tweet about the American Israel Public Affairs Committee was "stunningly anti-Semitic", and Chelsea Clinton also slammed the "anti-Semitic language and tropes".

"She's talking about the influence of Israel and this immediately gets twisted into antisemitism", one man wrote in comments retweeted by Omar.

Dan Shapiro, who served as the US ambassador to Israel during most of President Barack Obama's presidency (2011-2017), sent out a lengthy tweet thread Monday morning condemning Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) for anti-Semitic tweets the freshmen congresswoman sent out Sunday night.

This story "Ilhan Omar Says AIPAC Pays Politicians To Be Pro-Israel" was written by Ron Kampeas.

"We urge you to join us in calling on each member of our Caucus to unite against anti-Semitism and hateful tropes and stereotypes", Gottheimer and Luria told Pelosi. "American politicians are pro-Israel because Americans are".

However, Omar has defended her views on Israel, saying she finds it "exciting" that her views are sparking debate.

The tweet continues, "And I know exactly what the congresswoman meant".

"OF COURSE it's possible to critique AIPAC et al in a non-anti-Semitic way", Ungar-Sargon wrote.

Nadler said in his statement Monday: "While of course our nation's leaders are free to debate the relative influence of a particular organization on our country's policy-making process, or the factors that make our system of governance imperfect, there is an expectation of leaders-particularly those with a demonstrated commitment to the cause of justice and equality-that they would be extremely careful not to tread into the waters of anti-Semitism or any other form of prejudice or hate". She's made herself a lightning rod.

And while former first daughter Chelsea Clinton, who married a Jewish man, first said that "we should expect all elected officials, regardless of party, and all public figures to not traffic in anti-Semitism", she said that she would call Omar's office to set up a dialogue between the two.

MI congresswoman Tlaib said on Saturday that she wanted to highlight "issues such as racism and Israel's violations of the Palestinians' human rights". "And I believe we can do that without criticizing people for their faith", Omar wrote.
