New leak shows the final screen design of Galaxy S10


There is no longer any doubt on what processor will be fitted on the 10th-anniversary special edition Samsung Galaxy S10 5G phone; it will be the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. "Together we are demonstrating our role in transforming the mobile industry and enriching consumer experiences with 5G mobile devices on live 5G networks at this year's Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology Summit".

Verizon, AT&T, and Samsung also announced that a 5G-capable smartphone will be available in early 2019.

It's a 5G smartphone prototype from Samsung with a huge screen cutout at the top-right corner. Apple, however, is choosing to sit out the H1 2019 race, suggesting its own 5G compatible device will not be ready until 2020. The U.S.is only slightly behind South Korea in enabling 5G for consumers, as TechRadar reports that three South Korean operators launched their 5G networks for enterprise consumers in parts of major cities. While each new generation of Snapdragon usually finds its way into flagship Android phones, it's unclear which models will run the Snapdragon 855 with 5G connectivity.

Verizon will start offering its first 5G smartphones in the first half of next year after announcing a new partnership with Samsung.

Verizon already has a working 5G commercial service, 5G home, which was launched in October in Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Sacramento, with a "rapid expansion" on the cards.

"Samsung offers end-to-end solutions that are accelerating the wide scale adoption of 5G and help us realize our vision of truly connected living", said Justin Denison, senior vice president, Mobile Product Strategy and Marketing at Samsung Electronics America.

Computational photography is becoming even more important in flagship phones, and Google's Pixel 3 family of smartphones has arguably used it to the greatest effect.

Either way, early 2019 will give us a better idea of what to expect with 5G.
