MMA UFC Dana White Whittaker a chance for title fight in Australia

"I'm the champ, for sure", the Gastelum said, while holding flyweight champion Henry Cejudo's belt. At one point, he planted his back against the fence and demanded Adesanya come and meet him.

The entire mixed martial arts (MMA) universe was handed a shocking change when Robert Whittaker pulled out of his main event with Kelvin Gastelum at last night's (Feb. 9, 2019) UFC 234.

White would not speculate about whether an interim championship would be created and said that he projects Whittaker will be able to resume training in four weeks.

The most unsafe moment for Adesanya came in the third round, when Silva launched into a flying knee attempt.

The blazing hands and the remarkable reflexes that led Anderson Silva to become the greatest fighter in the world at his peak are long gone.

Adesanya got the better of the exchanges - as he lowered the defence of Silva with his low kicks and bodywork - to land some crushing shots to the head.

And Adesanya was too good for Silva after the judges scored the fight 29-28, 30-27, 30-27 as the undefeated Nigerian-New Zealander improved to 16-0.

Silva said it was the equivalent of facing Michael Jordan in basketball.

The fight went to the scorecards after going the full three round distance but it was Adesanya that got the win via unanimous decision. "I showed up, traveled thousands and thousands of miles from home, made the weight".

But a patient Adesanya, who like his opponent, also displayed some showboating, dominated the third, peppering the Brazilian's face with punches as the veteran sometimes held his hands low.

"In my world, the wrestling world, if the guy shows up and makes the weight and for some reason one forfeits the match, the other guy's the victor".

"Rob heal up quick, Kelvin put that belt down, seriously", Adesanya said with a laugh from the crowd.

UFC 234 will take place at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia and fans are in for an absolute treat, though one that's missing the day's primary entertainment. "This is my heart".

"I try to fight in Curitiba, my city". "But Israel went in with a sold-out house tonight and a lot of pressure on him..."
