Ireland team named for Scotland clash

Rob Kearney will return at full-back for Ireland's Six Nations trip to Scotland, with Chris Farrell parachuted into the centres.

Robbie Henshaw has become the latest player to join an ever mounting Ireland injury list.

Joe Schmidt is excited to see Chris Farrell in action against Scotland having revealed that Robbie Henshaw could have played had Ireland not boasted a ready-made replacement.

Ahead of tomorrow's 2.15pm kick-off in BT Murrayfield, we are asking you to select the best combined XV from the two starting line-ups in the poll below.

The former flanker added: "The Scottish coaching team and players will be well aware of that so Scotland have got to be ferocious and got to be in the face of Ireland".

"We talk about continuity but I think it's a fantastic opportunity".

Rob Kearney returns at full-back, while Jack Conan comes in at No. 8 in the absence of CJ Stander (facial injury).

Garry Ringrose injured his hamstring in Dublin, leaving a vacancy alongside Bundee Aki. It's a knock on top of a knock. The problem is he maybe could have played. Farrell has struggled with a string of knee injuries since his last Test appearance, a Man-of-the-Match showing in Ireland's 37-27 Six Nations victory over Wales in February 2018. "But if you get another bump on it, it debilitates you quickly, and then you have to make another change".

"You've got Chris Farrell sitting in the wings, massively motivated to do his best". It's a great opportunity to get him in. "He stepped in once a year ago and got man of the match and he's a guy who's getting back to form after the long lay-off he had".
