Commuters beware: Freezing rain to hit Nova Scotia on Friday morning

There is a risk for a period of light freezing rain initially tonight with lows right around the freezing mark.

A new Winter Weather Advisory will go into effect after 6pm this evening and last through most of the day Thursday.

Freezing rain gave way to normal rainfall around 2 a.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.

The KY3 Storm Team is tracking significant accumulations of freezing rain and sleet generally north of a Joplin to Stockton to Versailles line.

Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for London-Middlesex, Elgin County, and Oxford County.

Commuters will have a hard time on the roads most of the day.

As a result, surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for all of southeast MI from 7 PM this evening until 10 AM Friday. Parts of the South Shore of Nova Scotia will see virtually no freezing rain before a turn to rain, drizzle, and fog.

Environment Canada is still calling for freezing drizzle in the area Wednesday night and into Thursday.
