Bucks’ Giannis selects teammate Middleton for NBA All-Star roster

Bucks’ Giannis selects teammate Middleton for NBA All-Star roster

It was a cool idea, but for some, there was one problem: We had no idea when the captains selected everyone to be on their teams.

After they drafted their rosters for the NBA All-Star Game this evening, LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo consummated a hilarious trade.

Below are the starters and reserves selected by James and Antetokounmpo, in order. With the final two picks, Dirk Nowitzki and Dwyane Wade, James will get first dibs. Trade rumors about Davis joining LeBron James in Los Angeles circulated right up until the deadline.

LaMarcus Aldridge will be reunited with his old Spurs teammate Kawhi Leonard at the 2019 NBA All-Star Game in Charlotte.

Antetokounmpo replied that he was "playing mind games" with James, but the all-star ultimately most fazed by Simmons's selection and subsequent trade was Philadelphia's Joel Embiid, who had been picked fourth overall by Antetokounmpo and took to social media to react to the turn of events. He previously hinted at taking the Warriors guard with his first pick, returning the favor of Curry taking Antetokounmpo with his first selection previous year. James took Wade, his former Miami and Cleveland teammate and longtime close friend.

The All-Star game is on February 17, Sunday, at the Spectrum Center.

Milwaukee's Mike Budenholzer will coach Team Giannis, his second time leading an All-Star team.

Antetokounmpo said he took George for one reason: "He had a huge dunk on me", Antetokounmpo said, tipping his cap to the slam that the Thunder star threw down last month.
