SpongeBob Steals Super Bowl Halftime Show as Performer

Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Big Boi, and Sleepy Brown perform during the Super Bowl LIII Halftime Show at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on February 3, 2019 in Atlanta. Maroon 5, Travis Scott, and Big Boi all came together for a thrilling show that brought some excitement to a game that started slowly. Performing a few bars of OutKast's "The Way You Move", the rapper became another light in the dark - but his time as King of the halftime show was also short-lived.

Confused about the brief "SpongeBob" scene that served as an intro into Scott's "Sicko Mode"?

Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine nodded to Scott with his footwear choice, stepping onstage in a pair of Air Jordan 1 x Travis Scott "Mocha" sneakers.

At one point, Levine went shirtless during the performance, which led many on Twitter to call out the National Football League for letting him show both his nipples, while Janet Jackson got in trouble for showing a single nipple during her infamous 2004 Halftime Show "wardrobe malfunction". "SPONGEBOB SWEET VICTORY CMON. the clip was good BUT DONT FALL SHORT PLS" "Why were the 5 seconds of SpongeBob the best part of this halftime show ..." added another.

During the latter track, Levine threw caution to the wind and took his shirt off, revealing his much bandied-about torso in homage to the song's titular Rolling Stone.

"I got to sacrifice a lot of money to perform", she told the Associated Press last week.

Adam's wife Behati Prinsloo, who was seated inside the stadium, wrote on Instagram that she was "so proud" of the group, who were supported by Big Boi and Travis Scott.

Levine had hinted that there would be some sort of nod to social justice in the performance, but that wasn't immediately apparent in the show.

Maroon 5 might be regretting that it took up the offer to play at this year's Super Bowl Halftime Show. Coldplay featured Beyoncé and Bruno Mars in 2016, the same year Kaepernick would later begin his anthem protests at pre-season games.

It appears Spongebob is making the most of being a fave of USA sports team across the country with the music video playing on the screens, while fans cheered and danced in their seats. She later shared a shot of the passenger and called him a "weirdo" followed by a hand-drawn sketch of Kaepernick taking a knee, with the caption, "For those of you thought I was watchin the super bowl...we beefin (sic)".
