Facebook Messenger gets one of the best features of WhatsApp

You can't delete messages in this way in many chat services, so it's good to see that you can finally do it on Facebook Messenger. Starting today, Facebook Messenger is announcing a feature that will allow you to remove your message both during individual and group chats.

Facebook began working on the unsend feature last April, after it was reported that a number of Zuckerberg's old Facebook messages had mysteriously disappeared from the recipients' inboxes years after the fact. You'll get the normal reaction emoji just above message, as well as some options down below: Copy, Remove, and Forward.

When you do unsend the message, you will have two options to choose from: The ability to remove the message for everyone in the conversation, or remove the message just for yourself. You can now delete it within moments of sending it.

In order to use the new feature, your phone will need to be running the latest version of iOS or Android software, Facebook said.

Open the message thread with the message you want to kill.

But it does let you erase any messages that may have typos, were sent to the wrong person or that you may regret after-the-fact.

In the meantime, try to not send anything too stupid. With this unsend feature, you can delete those messages and try again. If you select the former, the text will be replaced with content that says it was replaced by you. They can see that you removed a message and still report it'. Once "removed", the message will not reappear in the draft space.

This is an option that has always been rumored, and even began a rollout at one point, because reports came out that higher up execs at Facebook had the option and the public began to pressure the company to give everyone the same feature.
