2 More Child Deaths Linked to Flu — CDC

Immunization surveillance coordinator Jenny Galbraith says this means that more counties are reporting flu cases than aren't. And although a cold can be a nuisance, you usually feel much worse with the flu.

For the same time period in the 2017-18 flu season, there were 130 deaths.

This flu season started weeks earlier than expected.

Public health officials are reporting three more flu-related deaths in DE, bringing the total for the current flu season to eight.

Meanwhile, Indiana is experiencing regional flu activity.

State health officials say it's not late to get a flu vaccine and encourage people to do so. Tennessee typically sees four to five deaths among children from flu-related complications each year.

These numbers are similar to the comparable period from a year ago, when there were 1,289 laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza and 297 hospitalizations.
