Londoners urged to get flu shot following first death of the season

Fifty-two flu-related deaths have been reported across California since September 30, according to the latest update from public health officials. Health Minister Brahm Mohindra in a high level meeting with the senior officers of the Health Department reviewed the preparedness of the State and actions being taken by State for management of Influenza A H1N1. The 22 deaths reported represent two deaths in the week ending January 12 and four deaths from an earlier period that were delayed in being reported.

The health agency said that 12 of those who have died, or 55 percent, were known to be vaccinated against the flu.

Between 95 and 114 thousand people were hospitalized.

Director general health Dr TC Pant said the team will conduct the audits of swine flu or H1N1 influenza deaths across Uttarakhand.

An average of 30 or more flu patients per medical institution was seen in 32 of the nation's 47 prefectures.

The New Hampshire Department of Health is reporting the state's first adult death from the flu so far this season.

Comparing the numbers, this time previous year we had 79 Hoosiers who died from flu-related illness and 60 flu outbreaks at long-term care facilities.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention urges all people age 6 months or older to get flu vaccinations.
