Lexar’s 1TB SD card is the one you’ve been waiting for

I remember when I was kid first learning about technology I thought that a terabyte was such a huge, incalculable amount of space that surely no one person would ever need that much storage. But if you're looking for more storage solutions for your devices, you'll want to be on the lookout for Lexar's 1TB SD card that was just announced at the trade show.

We've been hearing about 1TB SD cards for a couple of years now, with SanDisk showing off a prototype card back in September 2016.

The card is made for content creators who "shoot large volumes of high-resolution images and 4K video", according to Lexar's senior marketing manager Joey Lopez.

The new Lexar 1TB 633x SDXC UHS-I card features a read speed of up to 95MB/s and a video recording speed class of V30.

The card costs $499, and is available to purchase. Interestingly, retailer B&H in the United States had listed the 1TB Lexar card for US$399.99 (about RM1,636). To put it in context, the 1 TB SD card should hold somewhere between 30-35 total hours of 4K video footage, depending on bitrate and framerate. You do, of course, lose the convenience of a single card, though, and there's every chance retailers will discount the card enough to make it the slightly cheaper option.
