Gunners close in on Denis Suarez loan deal

Ramsey is out of contact at the end of season, having spent 11 years at the club following his move from Cardiff as an 18-year-old, but Emery said the player remains focused on seeing out his deal at the Emirates.

According to The Telegraph, long-term target Banega is still on their radar, but Arsenal will have to come to an agreement with Sevilla over an initial loan deal that can be turned into a permanent arrangement later this year.

"We can't sign with payment for one player", Emery said at a news conference on Thursday.

The Gunners, who signed five first-team players in the summer window, have been strongly linked with a move for Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez. "We can only loan players".

Asked whether he would consider giving players a break, Emery said: "We are doing that".

He told Arsenal's official website: "I think the most important thing for me is hard work and that day-to-day learning".

"I don't know about his situation".

"I say to him every day, is that we need his performance for us", Emery said.

Arsenal visit West Ham today before hosting Chelsea on the 19th. "In the last match [against Blackpool in the FA Cup] I was very happy with him".

"If we can find one player who can help us like we need, with the quality and a different player for getting in our squad, we are going to do it". I can not say more about his situation.

"We both spoke about the situation with respect from him and from us".

Arsenal struggled with injuries throughout the festive fixtures but can welcome back a host of players for the derby at the London Stadium.

Emery has been boosted by the return to full training of Nacho Monreal, Shkodran Mustafi and Héctor Bellerín.
