Apple CEO, Tim Cook, Made $15m In 2018

Apple CEO Tim Cook recently revealed that 2018 was not a great year for the company as its most popular product - iPhone generated lower revenues.

Now Apple boss Tim Cook has said that tech fans should brace themselves for big news in the coming year.

"In terms of the naysayer, I've heard this over and over again", Cook said in an interview Tuesday with Jim Cramer on CNBC. "And as we've gotten into healthcare more and more through the Watch and through other things that we've created with ResearchKit and CareKit and putting your medical records on the iPhone, this is a huge deal".

But they think the primary driver of Apple's demand doldrums come down to a "mispriced smartphone with XR as the culprit in China and elongated upgrade activity within its installed base a clear headwind".

In his interview with Cramer, Cook said trade tensions between China and the United States created the sharp downturn, but he said he believes the situation is temporary.

Cook's comments that the Apple Watch represents 5 percent of sales and growing at 45 percent while Air Pods represents 1 percent of sales and growing at 87 percent is consistent with estimates.

"We are taking what has been with the institution and empowering the individual to manage their health".

Cook said in 2015 that he plans to give his entire fortune to charity.

Cook could also be referencing Apple's rumored monthly news subscription service , which could look a lot like Apple's streaming-music service, Apple Music. In Apple's fiscal year 2018 (which ended September 27), Greater China accounted for 20 percent of the company's revenue, virtually unchanged compared to the year before.

Becker's Hospital Review spoke with former Apple CEO and current CMO of cloud-based pharmacy benefit manager RxAdvance John Sculley to gain his insight into where Apple may be headed in healthcare. "(.) Also, if you take AirPods and the Watch separately, and you sort of back these up and align it to the launch date of iPod as well (.) you will find that each one independently is like four to six time ahead of where iPod was in a comparable amount of time", he said. Later, he characterized the company's health-care efforts as poised to be "Apple's most important contribution to mankind".
