Mourinho lands job as TV pundit

Real Madrid are keen on making the 55-year-old their next manager, with Santiago Solari likely to be walking on a tightrope if results do not improve.

Jose Mourinho is not interested in a return to Portugal for his next management role and is giving away very little about where he might end up.

"When any professional returns to a club it is a tremendous honour".

When Mourinho joined United in 2016, chief executive Ed Woodward included a release agreement that allowed them to claim compensation if he joined a new club within 12 months of leaving.

"There has been no contact, but they did get in touch with Jose after (Julen) Lopetegui was dismissed (in late October)", the Mail reports the source as saying.

No one was surprised by his sacking, and Mourinho himself had spent the final months of his job looking like a man who had checked out ages ago and was simply waiting for his employers to run out of patience.

Reports coming coming out of the tactician's camp revealed on Wednesday night that: "There are no issues over Jose's contract with Manchester United".

The Mirror revealed that the club president Luis Filipe Vieira has revealed his desires to bring the former Chelsea boss back to Lisbon.

He said on the prospect of returning: "They are things that are said and I will not feed".

Jonathan Whitehead of beIN SPORTS, said: "We're delighted to welcome Jose Mourinho to beIN SPORTS and having him as part of our exclusive AFC Asian Cup 2019 and English Premier League coverage in MENA will be a special moment for our network".

According to the publication, Real boss Florentino Perez remains a huge fan and the Champions League holders will do all they can to land the manager. Interestingly for a man who operates on something of a scorched earth policy when things are going badly for him in a job, the Portuguese manager has been nearly exclusively linked with clubs that he has already managed.
