Kyler Murray expected to enter NFL Draft

Kyler Murray expected to enter NFL Draft

According to Henry Schulman and Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, the A's expect that indecision to result in Murray declaring for the Draft on Sunday when the deadline arrives.

Earlier this week, it was reported Murray would have to pick between baseball and football because of the difficulties that come with learning and playing quarterback in the NFL.

Okay, so this one is kinda insane.

Murray was a top 10 pick by the Oakland A's in the 2018 MLB Draft, and has said that he's committed to baseball, but that might be changing.

Last month, on the eve of the Heisman ceremony, it was clear that Murray was torn about which sport he wanted to play. Would the Cards really hold an auction for Rosen and take Murray No. 1?

Back in October, then-Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury had seemingly endless good things to say about Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray. Baseball might have better long-term value, but the glitz, glamour and money that come with being the No. 1 pick in the National Football League draft might be too much to resist.

Murray, a two-sport star, was chosen by the A's with the ninth pick of the Major League Baseball draft in 2018 and signed a $4.66 million contract in June that allowed him to play football for the Sooners for one final year before joining the team. He wasn't able to pilot the Sooners to a College Football Playoff title, but he still put up impressive numbers against tough defenses all year-long. Spring training for the A's opens on February 15, and it appears unlikely Murray would be able to prepare for the NFL scouting combine at the same time as attending his first major league baseball camp. Recent reports claim Murray intends on entering this April's NFL Draft.

Miami will have the No. 13 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
