Alien: Blackout announced, is a mobile game

Alien: Blackout will have players assume the role of Amanda Ripley and must try to lead their crew to survival while also managing the Wayland-Yutani Space Station's emergency systems.

"The terror of Alien is brought to life in Alien: Blackout", reads D3 Go's website. You don't see many big companies making premium (AKA paid upfront) mobile games these days, and having a set, seven-mission structure that changes based on how much of your crew survives is thematically appropriate.

The Alien franchise hasn't had the best of luck when it comes to video game adaptations, but that's in the past as one of the more recently released titles Alien: Isolation was received positively by fans and critics alike, and rightfully so. That being said, Alien: Blackout turned out to be a mobile game, so the response to the game's first trailer and screenshots has been less than savory.

Alien: Blackout, a mobile follow-up to Alien: Isolation for iOS and Android, has been announced.

FoxNext Games' studio, Cold Iron Studios, is also now at work on a massively multiplayer online shooter set in the Alien cinematic universe for consoles and PC.

In Blackout, you'll be tasked with guiding AI crewmates to safety whilst also attempting to avoid the Xenomorph. "The uncertainty and unpredictability of both the alien and her crew can impose total defeat for Amanda and the entire station".

Amanda Ripley, Ellen Ripley's daughter and protagonist of Alien: Isolation, is the star.

According to D3 Go!, players will be able to play around with the following features, before the Xenomorph finds them and presumably drowns them in its sticky drool. You'll need to manage your resources as you go - allocating the station's limited power to tools that can help track the Alien, such as a holographic map, cameras, and a motion tracker.

Rival Games is an independent game developer in Turku, Finland, the studio developed the "Thief of Thieves" game and is in the process of developing "The Detail".
