Ryan Zinke leaving post as Secretary of the Interior

Ryan Zinke leaving post as Secretary of the Interior

Trump told reporters this fall he was evaluating Zinke's future in the administration in light of the allegations.

Another member of President Trump's cabinet is about to leave the administration under a cloud.

Donald Trump said Saturday that his interior secretary will be leaving soon - the latest in a series of high-profile departures from the United States president's turnover-plagued administration.

"@RyanZinke will be leaving the Administration at the end of the year after having served for a period of nearly two years", the president tweeted.

"Ryan has accomplished much during his tenure and I want to thank him for his service to our Nation", the president said, adding that a replacement would be announced next week.

According to Jacobs, "concern about legal costs and scrutiny of his travel, political activity and potential conflicts of interest were factors in Zinke's decision".

Asked by reporters last month whether he might fire Zinke, Trump said, "No, I'm going to look into any complaints".

His appointment angered environmental advocacy groups who accused Mr Zinke of being in hock to corporate polluters.

The tweet also included the hashtag #TuneInnForMore, a reference to a legendary Washington, D.C., dive bar frequented by Grijalva, who was reportedly inside the bar when he read Zinke's tweet.
