Manchester United players should ignore Jose Mourinho - Martin Keown

The arch-rivals meet on Sunday with United looking to maintain their record of having not lost on the ground since 2013, although the fact their last two encounters have been goalless draws with Jose Mourinho's side having 38 and 35 per cent possession respectively says much about the type of games they were. Was it the most successful?

'If this is how they're being told to play, the players are on their own - I don't know the identity of this United team.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho insists he loves management more than ever, because it is more hard than ever. "I hope the people are ready again to create an atmosphere like Tuesday night (in their Champions League victory over Napoli), which was special".

Liverpool finished 25 points behind City last season, but now lead the champions by a point thanks to their best ever start to a league season. No, but the ride was brilliant.

"But I thought that the situation was not that, and I thought the second position was really a fantastic season by all of us, and that this season was going to be very, very hard, because the teams that were behind us, potentially shouldn't be, and on top of that, they had a great improvement in their teams". "I enjoyed it a lot". Going to the final was fantastic, but if life - in all departments of life, including your job - if only the best counts and effort doesn't count then life is s***.

"I love the challenge".

"There will be, I don't want to say a test, but a little introduction to training to see the answer, adaptation and to see if we can increase a little bit tomorrow to have them for Sunday", he said.

"The club, the team, the size of the fan base, the manager as a combination, we should be successful". We try to change that, at least, but it will be a very intense game.

"Maybe previous year a little bit in the game [at Anfield], but they didn't do it at Old Trafford, no".

Mourinho has struggled this season, with United's supposed refusal to heavily invest in the summer a key issue. For that we need good footballers and we've got that. Speaking to the media on Friday afternoon, Klopp also indicated that Nathaniel Clyne could deputise at right-back for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has a foot injury.

Joel Matip (collarbone) and Joe Gomez (fractured leg) are also on the injury.

Liverpool have taken 30 points out of a possible 78 against United at home in the Premier League and have not managed a goal in any of the past three league meetings.
