Tampons could unravel inside body — RECALL ALERT

The particular products included in the recall were manufactured between October 7, 2016, and October 16, 2018.

Tampons are being recalled, because of a product defect.

A Selection of tampons are being recalled because of concerns about the product unraveling during use. A full list of the recalled lot numbers can be found here.

Retailers are being notified and are being asked to remove affected tampons from store shelves.

The tampons being recalled include the U by Kotex Sleek and Regular Absorbency Tampons, which are now being sold in the USA and Canada and limited to those that were manufactured prior to October 16, 2018, according to the U by Kotex website.

A recall has been issued in the USA for the U by Kotex Sleek tampon range after consumers reported that the tampons were unravelling inside them.

Kimberly-Clark, which owns the Kotex brand, has received "a small number of reports" of infections, irritation and vaginal injuries caused by the tampons, according to a statement dated Tuesday. "What can I say is that we worked quickly to identify the issue and determine the scope, leading to the recall of this product".

The company is advising people to seek medical attention if they experience symptoms such as vaginal injury, irritation, urogenital infections, abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting.
