India vs Australia 2nd Test

India vs Australia 2nd Test

Virat Kohli hailed the impact of man-of-the-match Cheteshwar Pujara in India's breakthrough first Test victory over Australia on Monday and paid tribute to his three-man pace attack for staying patient with the match on a knife-edge.

Hanuma Vihari is the like-for-like replacement for the sixth batsman, Rohit. The final spot will be contested between Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar and Umesh.

Prithvi Shaw, who injured his ankle while fielding during the warm-up game against Cricket Australia XI and missed the first Test, will also sit out of the Perth Test as he is still undergoing treatment, according to the BCCI media release.

R Ashwin's injury will come as a blow to India after he took six wickets in the match to make a difference with persistent line and length and making the most of the rough patches.

India defeated Australia by 31 runs in the first match to take a 1-0 lead in the four-Test series for the first time in 70 years. Whereas Ravi Ashwin has a left abdominal strain and is receiving the treatment. He is undergoing treatment. He too is ruled out of the second Test. However, the team management will take a call on their participation at the MCG in the meantime.

Meanwhile, The curator at the Optus stadium in Perth seems to have lived up to his promise of producing a fast pitch for the second Test between India and Australia starting Friday.

A fast and bouncy pitch is the talk of town for the maiden Test at this new stadium.

The wicket is covered in a thick layer of grass, so much so that it seems hard to distinguish between the pitch and the outfield.

Kohli will hope for more from the recalled opener Murali Vijay, who has struggled to justify his place in the side this year. It's probably the one area where we just felt we're not wearing down the India bowlers enough this Test match.

"I think with four bowlers picking up 20 wickets in a Test match away from home, especially with a ball that does not offer you so much, is something that we can proud of".

Pacer Umesh Yadav, all-rounders Hanuma Vihari and Ravindra Jadeja were included in the 13-man squad.
