New Things You Need To Know About Far Cry New Dawn Gameplay

Ubisoft has presented Far Cry New Dawn through a trailer.

Set 17 years after Far Cry 5, New Dawn explores the fallout that devastated Hope Country.

Seventeen years after a global nuclear catastrophe, civilization re-emerges from the chaos to find a world dramatically changed. However, a full reveal is happening tonight at The Game Awards.

My theory that we might play the game as Far Cry 5 psycho-villain Joseph Seed is apparently off the mark, as the hero in New Dawn will be a brand new character coming to Hope County for the first time. The game releases in a little over two months, so I'm sure Ubisoft will drop some in-game footage soon enough. It looks like rural Montana, which means "New Dawn" is possibly a direct sequel to "Far Cry 5".

Devil May Cry 5 - What is it?

Raised in a lawless frontier, the twin sisters and their band of scavengers live only for today and have descended upon Hope County to take all available resources. Expect to see some, but not all, of the characters you met in Far Cry 5.

Ubisoft adds further gameplay details: "At the Homebase, players will prepare to face off against the threat of the Highwaymen". We met Horatio the Boar and the adorable Timber the Akita, who looks especially cute sat beside you in a sidecar as you ride between missions. A "super bloom" of wildflowers injects an explosion of fresh colour and new biomes into the landscape, as if nature has been supercharged by radioactive E numbers. What you most need to know is: it will have a Shiba Inu dog and giant pig as potential animal friends. However, we've left her on the bench for now, instead opting for Nana.

Exactly what's going on in terms of the main antagonists isn't entirely clear but they seem to be the two women on the box art above (Far Cry always features the main enemy, rather than the protagonist). Interestingly, unlike previous games, these outposts don't stay liberated. If you take the second option, prepare for the bandits to set up shop again, but this time with better defences. Then, if you choose to return and send them off in a further mess of dirt clouds and skid marks, so to speak, you have better loot to return to Prosperity base.

"[Expedition maps are] one square kilometer by one square kilometer, so it's fairly large".
