Hezbollah Operative Caught on Camera in 'Attack Tunnel' to Israel, Claims IDF

The IDF announced the launch of "Operation Northern Shield" on Tuesday, saying its goal was to "expose and neutralize cross-border attack tunnels dug by Hezbollah" under the Israel-Lebanon border.

Israel's military said this week it had identified a number of passages and sent diggers and troops close to the frontier to block them. "There is an exaggeration in the way it [the operation] was presented, and I hope that does not hurt us", he added. Bahrain has very good relations with the Trump Administration; the Crown Prince cemented agreements including an extension of the Bahrain - US Defense Cooperation Agreement, the purchase of F-16 fighter aircraft, and deals with American companies to modernize the BAPCO refinery and expand the ALBA aluminum smelter.

There was no immediate reaction from Hezbollah or the Lebanese government on the United Nations statement. Mudallali stressed that Israel's actions are a violation of United Nations resolution 1701, which was approved resolve the Israel-Lebanon conflict and ended the 2006 Second Lebanon War. "Once again we demanded the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Shebaa farms, Kfarchouba heights and the occupied part of the al-Ghajar settlement", the Lebanese Armed Forces said.

In Lebanon, the LBC TV posted an audio message that it said some residents of the border village of Kfar Fila received on their cellphones Thursday warning them to stay away from tunnels.

In a statement on Thursday, the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said it "visited a location near Metula in northern Israel" and "can confirm the existence of a tunnel at the location".

It said that it was "engaged with parties to ensure urgent follow-up action" and "will communicate its preliminary findings to the appropriate authorities in Lebanon".

Earlier in the day, the UNIFIL said that participants of the trilateral meeting had discussed the situation around the Israeli operation against tunnels of the Hezbollah Shia movement.

"Hezbollah wants to insert several battalions to our territory with the aim of isolating communities, towns and kibbutzim [collective farms] to continue its reign of terror and abductions which could take place simultaneously", he told a meeting of foreign diplomats on Thursday.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) said the tunnels show Iran used money from sanctions lifted under the Obama administration for military purposes.

"Everything is calm and peaceful on the Lebanese side [of the border]". Last November, Israeli jets flew over Northern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley and the South.

On a daily basis in Southern Lebanon residents hear, if they don't see, Israeli drones buzzing away like huge mosquitoes in the sky. "Cruz has also been unequivocal that our Israeli allies have an absolute right to defend themselves, especially against threats and violations of their sovereignty like these attack tunnels".

Also on Thursday, the Jerusalem Post quoted another official saying that Russian Federation has deployed forces on the Syrian-Lebanese border with the aim of preventing the transfer of weapons and precision-guided technology to Hezbollah.

The question on the minds of Middle East analysts is why Netanyahu is moving this subject to the forefront of the region and implicitly threatening war against Lebanon.

He has also faced mounting legal woes, with police on Sunday recommending that he and his wife Sara be indicted for bribery, the third such recommendation against the premier in recent months. If convicted, Netanyahu would end up in prison.
