Final Eulogies Set for Former US President George HW Bush

The service began at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, where Bush worshipped for more than 50 years, with more than 1,000 attendees singing "America the handsome". In place of most Washington dignitaries were top Houston athletes including the NFL Texans' defensive end J.J. Watt - displaying Bush's love for sports - and Chuck Norris, who played TV's "Walker, Texas Ranger".

Along with Sully, people across the US are now mourning the 41st US President - Bush served one term from 1989 until 1993 and oversaw the country through the fall of the Soviet Union and the Gulf War.

Yet one individual, who shall go unnamed, dared to criticize Sully on the internet because she did not believe the dog's six months of service to the former president was enough to merit our attention.

Trump wrote in a tweet of the Bush memorial events. The elder Bush never warmed to Trump and voted for Trump's 2016 challenger, Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Country music star Reba McEntire was due to be among the musical performers at the service. "He was not." They then sang "Amazing Grace" and Reba McEntire offered a musical version of "The Lord's Prayer". The Trumps visited Bush's casket Monday evening.

The "Late Show" host noted reports that Trump attended the service after the Bush family promised not to criticize him.

"On his death, U.S. has lost a statesman and KSA lost a friend", Adel Al-Jubeir said in a tweet on Thursday.

They stood in front of the casket with their eyes closed for a few moments, before Mr Trump saluted the casket. Meacham read his eulogy to him, said Bush spokesman Jim McGrath, and Bush responded to it with the crack: "That's a lot about me, Jon".

George H.W. Bush died on Friday at the age of 94.

Trump and his wife joined mourners at the Capitol Rotunda Monday night.

The U.S. Postal Service announced on its website that all retail locations will be closed and delivery services will be suspended for the day, with the exception of some package deliveries.

Tributes to former US President George H.W. Bush have flooded social media since his death last week - and judging by the outpouring of grief from mainstream media, journalists seem to be just as upset at his passing as anyone.
