Bush’s service dog honors the late president

Bush's casket is set to arrive in Washington on Monday afternoon aboard the USA military airplane that's more commonly recognized as Air Force One.

"While he was known as the quiet man, it was not for lack of nerve or daring", Vice President Mike Pence said in brief remarks.

"He kept us flying high and challenged us to fly higher still, and he did it with modesty and kindness that would've been surprising in someone one-tenth as tough and accomplished as he was", McConnell said. Trump, who was not in the Capitol, wrote on Twitter that he was "looking forward to being with the Bush Family to pay my respects to President George H.W. Bush" at Wednesday's funeral. But, like any American politician, Bush also endured-and dished out-and the kind of vicious mockery that came with the profession long before the Donald's unhinged age.

Bush is the 12th U.S. president to lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda.

Along with his son, George H.W. Bush will be eulogized by former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, whose time in power overlapped with Bush, former US Sen.

A formation of Navy sailors and Air Force personnel stood at attention as the plane touched down.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement Wednesday has been designated as a national day of mourning, and that the White House flags have already been lowered to half staff to honor Bush.

He will lie in state in the Capitol for public visitation through Wednesday.

Bush's passing puts him back in the Washington spotlight after more than two decades living the relatively low-key life of a former president.

Bush's service dog, a young Labrador retriever named "Sully", also walked past the casket and sat near it briefly.

According to the Post, Sully will soon be on his way to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland, where he will help out wounded soldiers and vets and continue to be a very good boy. Sully will accompany Bush's casket on its flight to Washington on December 3.

Liberals chortled. But four years later, the scion's own son-George Walker Bush, or simply W. -defeated that same woman's bid for re-election.

The motorcade then traveled to Ellington Field. The crew has been tasked by Trump with carrying out "Special Air Mission 41".

Bush often sported bright socks at public events, sometimes with loud and unusual patterns.
