Michelle Obama's Becoming memoir becomes best-selling book of 2018

Michelle Obama's memoir, released about two weeks ago, was declared the best selling book of 2018, according to her publisher. By the end of the sixth printing, there will be 3.4 million copies in print in the United States and Canada, said the CNN report.

Becoming has 3.4 million hardcover copies now in print. Obama is promoting her book with a live tour being moderated by the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon.

Becoming is now in its second week as No. 1 on The New York Times Best Seller lists for hardcover nonfiction and the combined print and e-book best sellers. But the book's-and author's-popularity are not limited to North America.

Michelle Obama signs copies of her new book at a bookstore in NY. Becoming even bests the efforts of former presidents, such as George W. Bush's Decision Points, which didn't cross two million copies for multiple weeks, and Bill Clinton's My Life, which also couldn't hit two million copies quite as quickly.

The book is a window into the personal life of the Obamas prior to, throughout, and following their time at the White House as the first African-American first lady and the first black US President Barack Obama.
