Chargers' Derwin James pick off QB Ben Roethlisberger

Down 23-7 at the half, the Chargers (9-3) became the first visiting team to win in Pittsburgh after trailing by 16. NBC commentator Cris Collinsworth even noted that if not for the play of Derwin James, the Steelers might hang 50 on the Chargers.

After Badgley missed a 52-yard field goal attempt on the opening drive, Pittsburgh moved 58 yards on four plays.

Late in the third quarter the Steelers still hadn't put the game away, and then it started to seem like weird things might be happening. The Chargers ended up throwing a 46-yard touchdown pass from Philip Rivers to Travis Benjamin.

According to our Bet Labs data, Ben Roethlisberger is 14-8 (63.6%) against the spread when playing in prime time the week after a straight-up loss, covering by more than a field goal per game to profit bettors six units.

Rookie Jaylen Samuels replaced Conner and caught a 10-yard touchdown pass with 4:10 remaining that tied the game at 30, leaving Rivers ample time to one-up Roethlisberger, a fellow member of the vaunted 2004 draft class that includes New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning.

Suddenly, a team that looked capable of joining them appears to be in a bit of a tight spot with a somewhat daunting final month ahead that includes games against New England and New Orleans. "We've got to continue to figure out a way to win and get ourselves to the dance".

After forcing another Pittsburgh punt, the Chargers marched 79 yards on seven plays for the go-ahead score, capped by rookie Justin Jackson's first touchdown on an 18-yard dash up the middle with a little more than eight minutes left to play.

Several Steelers pointed at Tevi as the play began looking for a penalty, but there were no flags on the field when Rivers lofted a rainbow down the right sideline to Benjamin. By that point the game really seemed to be out of the Steelers' control.

"I am going to keep my mouth shut", Tomlin said. This penalty, if called, would've sent the game to OT.

This game was definitely the tale of two halves. The Chargers hit a long touchdown pass on that play. Austin Ekeler will start in Gordon's place.

The Chargers tied the game early in the fourth quarter. That's right, the Steelers have played since 1933 and before Sunday had never lost in that situation at home.
