LG Takes On JBL With 'XBOOM' Smart Display

The question you may be asking yourself right about now is what makes the LG Xboom AI ThinQ model WK9 (full name, no joke) worth around 100 bucks more than the soon-to-be-discounted Google Home Hub.

Offering high-fidelity sound, the XBOOM WK9 pledges crystal clear sound (for music and video chatting), with precise playback and accurate bass.

Coming to the ThinQ branding, LG has also built its own smart home platform into the device, so you can control ThinQ branded home appliances and electronics such as air purifiers, refrigerators, washing machines, TVs and more. It's outfitted with an 8-inch touchscreen and a 5MP camera for video calls, and aside from the IoT functionality Google Assistant unlocks, it'll also play nice with LG's line up of ThinQ devices.

(LG) begins rolling out a powerful and intelligent speaker with a unique Smart Display that combines the capabilities of the Google Assistant with unparalleled sound quality from Meridian Audio to create a powerful and attractive device designed for the smart home.

The audio system, which is equipped with a device created jointly with specialists of the company Meridian Audio, so you can count on high quality sound.

First came smart speakers and now we have smart displays. LG didn't provide information on when exactly the device will be available to purchase.

LG is joining the Smart Display game, becoming the fourth company to do so after Lenovo, JBL, and Google itself.

However, thanks to a partnership with Meridian Audio, a lot of focus has been been put on audio performance too, with stereo speakers providing 20W of power output.

The LG smart display costs $299.99, but it will be sold for just $199.99 during the holiday season.
