Studs and duds from Chiefs' win over Cardinals

Hill has four catches for 93 yards and one rush for 20 yards.

Johnson, who had been bottled up through the first half of the season as part of the worst-ranked offense in the National Football League, accumulated 183 yards from scrimmage — 98 yards rushing (in 21 carries) and 85 yards receiving (on seven catches).

The Chiefs found the end zone just 56 seconds into the game when quarterback Patrick Mahomes found wide receiver Tyreek Hill on a 37-yard scoring strike, and with the exception of a brief tie early in the first quarter, Kansas City held on to the lead the rest of the way.

"The one thing we're doing right now is we are minimizing big plays", defensive tackle Jarvis Jenkins said.

A first-round pick a year ago, Mahomes is on pace to throw for 5,040 yards, 50 touchdowns and 11 interceptions and is a legitimate MVP candidate.

"We take a lot of pride", said linebacker Justin Houston, who returned against the Cardinals after missing the previous four games because of a sore hamstring.

He has 40 catches for 407 yards and two touchdowns this season. "I thought Byron did a tremendous job in just really trying to get him the ball". Hill called the celebration a spur of the moment idea. I love the back side of that, the preparation and how he goes about his business there day in and day out.

But Justin Houston's return from an injury suffered October 7 against the Jaguars was marked by consistent pressure on Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen.

"It was just for an emergency situation", Reid said of Hitchens being active. Our opening drives were pretty long and sustainable, and kept our defense off the field. "A little good nugget here and there, but some bad things to clean up".

Wilks said the Cardinals may need to consider six- and seven-man protection schemes to better protect Rosen.

"My approach and my philosophy is always to try to defer", Wilks said on the "Bickley and Marotta" show on 98.7, Arizona's Sports Station.

His teammates, however, continued their admiration for Fitzgerald's career. We did that by sustaining drives — a 14-play drive and starting the third quarter with a 13-play drive, and they both ending in touchdowns.

He has 31 touchdown passes for the 9-1 Chiefs, who will face the 9-1 Los Angeles Rams next Monday night in Mexico City. He needs to build on his performance against Arizona, even if it means sacrificing a triple digits in yardage, to continue developing into a complete back who's utility goes beyond being a ball-carrier. They had one sack in each of the first two games of the season but at least two in every game since.
