Did White House share doctored video of incident involving CNN reporter?

Reporter Jim Acosta's press pass was suspended Wednesday following a heated confrontation between him and U.S. President Donald Trump. Jim Acosta is not a serious White House correspondent; he is a 40-something member of a high school debate system who goes in there, takes a policy position, usually obviously against the administration, and debates the president, or debates Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and that's not the role of a White House correspondent.

Trump, she said, doesn't seem to appreciate that.

"They gave a close up view".

The video tweeted by Sanders does not have any audio, which would make it easier to tamper with, said Shapiro. "That is just dishonest reporting".

Trump, speaking before his departure to Paris, said that he hasn't decided how long Acosta will be banned from the White House, and threatened to revoke the credentials of other reporters next.

Phillip asked Trump whether he wanted Matt Whitaker, the newly-appointed acting attorney general, to rein in Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Trump also berated another CNN reporter, Abby Phillip, for asking what he called a "stupid question".

Ryan, a Baltimore native, attempted to ask Trump a question about voter suppression at a news conference.

"In fact, she asked the most pertinent question of the day".

"There are embarrassingly few black and hispanic reporters in the WH press corps and four have been personally insulted by the President this week", he wrote.

"Journalists should be able to do their job without fear that a tough series of questions will provoke retaliation", said Committee to Protect Journalists' Advocacy Director Courtney Radsch in a statement.

The attack on Ryan was unprovoked, although the president had appeared upset at Wednesday's news conference when Ryan stood up and asked him, without a microphone, about voter suppression in the midterm elections. "We will not tolerate the inappropriate behaviour clearly documented in this video", she said.

"He does it, for, you know, the reason-the same thing with April Ryan".

"CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them", Trump said.

Both Sanders and Trump refused to back down amid criticism of their decision. Acosta has been a favorite punching bag of the president, and conservative media, so it will be sad to see these popcorn moments end. As the Society of Professional Journalists warns, "injecting oneself into the story or creating news events for coverage is not objective reporting, and it ultimately calls into question the ability of a journalist to be independent, which can damage credibility". But he said there could be others. "Nobody manipulated it", said Trump. When you're in the White House, this is a very sacred place to be. "The way you treat other people is terrible!"

The White House Correspondents' Association is denouncing the decision to bar Acosta, calling it unacceptable and disproportionate to the purported offence.
