Facebook Messenger Is Getting An 'Unsend Message' Feature

Users may now delete messages on the Messenger app but it only reflects on the sender's end and remains on the recipient's thread. Said something embarrassing? Don't worry, you can unsend that Facebook message, but you better be fast!

If your recipient is looking at their phone when you message them, or if they open the app before you can undo your action, there's not much you can do to take back your words.

"Users would be given just 10 minutes to jump in and delete their most recently sent message". That feature will be extended to the rest of the world according the list of "Coming Soon features".

While the 10-minute window is rather unforgiving, the new feature will nonetheless be a welcome addition, although no specific time frame for the rollout has been announced.

Google's for Gmail allows users to choose how long they have to unsend an email.

Facebook is finally following suit and adding the feature to its Messenger app. With WhatsApp, you have one hour to delete mistaken replies, which might come in handy. Both apps are owned by Facebook. Maybe you sent a picture to someone you didn't want to.

While Facebook won't allow us to have Zuckerberg's god-level ability to scrub 8 year old messages, we'll certainly take the ten minutes over the current option of fresh out of luck.
