Ariana Grande performs 'Thank U, Next' in a wedding dress

The 25-year-old singer debuted the song during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which is airing on Wednesday (November 7). "Thought I'd end up with Sean/But he wasn't a match/Wrote some songs about Ricky/Now I listen and laugh/Even nearly got married/And for Pete I'm so thankful/Wish I could say "Thank you" to Malcolm/'Cause he was an angel", she sings.

Ariana's performance has a First Wives Club theme and she dressed up in all-white alongside her back-up singers (and song co-writers) Victoria Monet and Tayla Parx.

In addition to the trio's ensembles, the stage was outfitted as if for a wedding reception, with tables, chairs and full-on centerpieces all in white.

Despite giggling over a misstep that almost caused her to fall, Grande got choked up at one point during her performance, visibly holding back tears while singing about walking down the aisle with her mom someday. It's one thing to sing the words, "I'm so fucking grateful for my ex", and it's another to really look like you mean them.

However, towards the end of the track, Ariana came close to tears as she sang: "One day I'll walk down the aisle, holding hands with my mama, I'll be thanking my dad, 'cause she grew from the drama".

Grande, who memorializes Miller as an "angel" on the track, recently paid tribute to him online after a fan sent her a video of the late rapper listening to her song "R.E.M".

"I thought we were supposed to exit", Grande says, apologizing for the mishap.

Ninety minutes after the song dropped, Davidson made his own statement during the "SNL's" Weekend Update segment, concluding his raucous guest spot by saying, "I know some of you are curious about the breakup, but the truth is, it's nobody's business".
